AFTER DARK
What happens when the sun sets until the sunrise?
When tasked to create a bar connected to the Pidgin Palace Arts Gallery, curator Clifton Taylor thought of Lutrec and John Chamberlain and the centuries of creative exiles who found inspiration from the ‘underground!’ All four artists have a connection to Tucson or have have spent time while passing through!
From Juarez, Mexico, Melissa Dominguez’s vibrant almost psychedelic graphic wok has a dark humor – brutal and beautiful whole exploring the spirit realm. Devils and Angels- human nature.
Expat Christopher Wassell, now lives in Tijuana, Mexico. TJ brought his work to life, from the night life to survival. His work has an abstract realism – romantic and surreal.
Viva Yazon a long time Tucson resident now resides outside Paris. Her delicate collage of beautifully assembled from paper and fabrics. Light and yet her use of color gives a natural depth.
Alexandra Cabral working between Paris and LA. Her photographs in this show have hints of her fashion and music editorial work. These could be shot at dusk early morning. Dark eyes and Black Lips.
The bar itself was designed with the Sewers of Paris in mind – Expats and exiles – Life in color After Dark.
